Some people were asking questions about good composition--one of the elements I'm looking for in your 5 Pix stories. I've uploaded my lecture notes on the FSC portal for you to review. If I've discussed it in class, I expect you to execute some of these things in both your photo essay and your 5 pix stories.

In your photo essays for my class, I expect good composition and framing, good "natural" lighting on your focal points/subjects, and plenty of candid and "posed" shots of people on the trip and people who live and work here.

I'll write out more explicit details of this for Thursday, but these are some of the things you should be "shooting" for (pun intended).

Sorry for my debit mishap...

Sorry I couldn't accompany you on your town trip this afternoon. Ugh. I'm hoping you'll be able to get tons of candids of each other (as well as the townspeople) and some "mundane" pictures of the townspeople doing their jobs. We'll be able to do more of this in London as well as on our other travels.

Remember that you have your first "Tell a Story in 5 Frames or Less" due by 5pm today. I see a few of you commented that you have yours up already. Comment here with the titles of yours that's due today. For example, you can comment, "My first 5 Pix assignment is called 'Making Breakfast'."

I'll emphasize this again--I want to see good shot composition and lighting for these, unless your picture captures a great spontaneous "moment."

Remember...

I expect you to employ good shot composition in your "Tell a Story in Five Pics or Less" assignments. I'm looking for good framing (when necessary), proper balance, and a focal point for each shot. I'm also looking for shot variety--wide shots, medium shots, and close ups.
